First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barnum Financial Group.
Intern
It was a behavioral interview. They were thorough and pertinent on values and being self-driven. They care about the culture and hammer into you that managing people's money is an important job in life. They do push you towards insurance, though, which can be a turn-off.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in wealth management?
Financial Advisor
A senior advisor's assistant will email you with potential times to meet, and you get to choose what time and day. Once the meetings are confirmed, they will cancel and reschedule meetings on you like 5 times right before the meeting starts. Takes months to get through the interviews.
- What do you hope to gain from this role?
Finance Intern
I talked to 3 people and they asked me standard behavioral questions. It was pretty straightforward, just make sure you know about the company and who you're talking to.
- Tell me about your weaknesses and strengths.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
- What about financial management interests you?
Finance Adviser Apprentice
The interview process involved three stages. First, there were two phone interviews which were quite informal and didn't seem to include any technical questions. These happened while I was still in school. After the phone interviews, I went to the Shelton office for a panel interview. This was a bit intimidating with six interviewers, but it only lasted about 10 minutes and they were all really friendly. The interview focused more on personality than technical skills, although knowing some basic finance and understanding the required exams like the Series (6,7,65,66) and CFP would be beneficial.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this role?
- Can you share some insights from your academic and personal life?
