Applied online and then had an interview four weeks later. It was a pretty bad experience. I asked for some reasonable adjustments, but they couldn't give me the questions beforehand and didn't meet other adjustments. The panel had two people, and they seemed totally uninterested in me. There was no warmth, smiling, or attempt to put me at ease. For an organization that's disability confident and aims for inclusion, this really missed the mark. It felt like my application wasn't properly read and someone else already had the job. I was the first interviewee of the day. The research I did on expected questions didn't come up, like questions about their values, strategy, and history. The interview lasted 45 minutes, and I was told I'd hear back within 3 working days. Four weeks later, I got an email from national recruiting saying I was unsuccessful.

I got to the Rugby distribution centre early for my interview and almost left straight away. The first impression was terrible. The building is on an industrial site, which is fine, but what put me off was seeing about 35 staff members smoking and vaping by the main entrance. As a non-smoker, walking through a cloud of smoke wasn't a good start. I was picked up and had to walk through the building, which smelled like an ashtray and looked dirty. I was taken into a small room where I met two women. Neither introduced themselves. I was asked one or two questions and then sent away. The whole thing took 6 minutes. I already knew I didn't want the job at that point.

The interviewers were great and really welcoming. It wasn't a super tough interview, just direct and informative. We went over the training and what the volunteer role involves. They answered all my questions and made sure to explain things well.

It was pretty chilled and relaxed. Two recruiters were on Zoom, one asking questions and the other taking notes. The interview lasted about 25 minutes and they asked around ten questions, including queries about my availability and if I can work Sundays.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you tell me about a time you've been aware of diversity and how you've incorporated it into your life or workplace?
  • Regarding your availability, are there any restrictions?
  • Are you able to work on Sundays?
