Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barnardo's.
Sales Assistant
It was my first interview in about a year, a competency interview. They didn't exactly make me feel super comfortable, to be honest. The interviewers were nice enough people, but one of them was a bit condescending, which definitely didn't help with my nerves. They said they'd be in touch that same day or the next, but I didn't hear back for about a week.
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
Sales Assistant
It was really relaxed and a nice experience. Two managers from different Barnardos stores interviewed me. They asked about Barnardos' ethics and values, really emphasizing diversity. They asked competency questions about my personality and how I'd handle difficult situations. They also asked about my flexibility and my 5-year goals.
- Can you tell me about the core ethics and values of the company?
Sales Assistant
Had a quick chat with someone, they asked me some straightforward questions about my availability, to tell them about myself, how I'd handle a tricky customer, and why I think I'm a good match for the job.
- What availability do you have for this position?
- Could you share some information about yourself?
- Describe how you would manage a challenging customer interaction.
