First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bark.
Software Engineer
We kicked things off with a quick call with the tech recruiter. Then, there was a take-home coding challenge using Ruby on Rails. After that, I had a review session with a senior software engineer. Following that, we did some whiteboarding and database modeling with another senior engineer. Later, I interviewed with the Product Manager, followed by a behavioral interview, and finally, an interview with the CTO.
- What are your thoughts on how to correct a mistake made in the coding challenge?
Recruiter
The interview process was terrible. I went in person for the final rounds. One of the senior people forgot the interview was scheduled and didn't come in. I was ghosted after spending $50 on parking (which they didn't refund) and taking 6 hours out of my workday to interview. I never got a rejection email even after following up with the team. Don't waste your time, they clearly don't care about wasting yours.
- Tell me about your experience collaborating with operations teams.
Customer Service Representative
The process started with an online application, followed by a phone screening. Then there was an interview with a team member, followed by an interview with the manager. After that, there was another interview with a different team member and an assessment. It seems to vary depending on the specific role, but overall, it was a pretty straightforward process. I actually declined the offer because I got a better one elsewhere.
- Can you share an instance where you actively fostered inclusion, either at work or in your personal life?
Director, Program Management Office
Applied online and then heard back from a recruiter. The communication with the recruiter was pretty rough and not very clear. They talked a lot about company culture and fitting in, but didn't really explain what the culture actually was. They kept saying the organization doesn't take themselves too seriously and that it's like a 'family' working there. Honestly, it sounded like major red flags everywhere. The recruiter wasn't great at answering questions and just kept circling back to how good the culture is. They list the jobs as remote, but then mentioned in our chat that people need to be back in the office by January. The Glassdoor reviews seem to confirm a lot of this.
