First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Banfield Pet Hospital.
Vet Assistant
I had an in-person interview with the manager, who was nice. The clinic's location inside a PetSmart was a bit unusual but not too bad. The interview lasted about 45 minutes. I noticed some coworkers didn't get along well, and the lab area was messy and unorganized. I followed up via email a week later about the position but didn't receive a response.
- Tell me about your background as a vet assistant.
Veterinary Technician
I had a call with the recruiter first, and they asked me about my background and why I applied to their hospital. Then, for the actual interview at the hospital, I was interviewed in a room that was being used for storage. They asked me pretty much the same questions the recruiter did. The interview and interviewer were nice and went well overall, but the interview room was a bit unexpected.

Client Service Representative
The interview process for the CSR role lacked transparency and good communication. A lot of the discussion happened over the phone beforehand. The in-person part was mainly a tour and talking about responsibilities, not much about me, and it felt easy. After about 1.5 hours, they told me the spot was filled and I'd have to start over at another location. I said no and took another job. They called two weeks later with an offer because their new hire didn't work out, but I declined again. Their communication was really bad and a waste of my time.
- What's your approach to handling challenging customers?
Veterinarian
The interview process was smooth, stress-free, and relaxed. It was a one-on-one meeting over coffee with no wait time and no pressure to sign. The environment was friendly and comforting, not interrogating and nosy as I had expected. It was a smooth, stress-free, and relaxed environment.
