The interview process involved 6 rounds: a screener, an interview with the manager, a portfolio review, and three meetings with stakeholders. Since the business units are separate, I got to interview with people directly in those units. The sales-like pay structure wasn't stable enough for me after seeing multiple layoffs at my previous job. The mission is great and the manager and team are amazing, so I would have joined them if the pay structure was different.
I chatted with a recruiter, who was pretty chill. Then I met with the hiring manager, and they decided to test my reactions by trying to mess with my head. This didn't go well because I basically shut down. After that, I had a technical interview that felt like it went okay. Finally, I talked to the team I'd be joining. They didn't seem very prepared or sure about what they needed, and they came across as stressed and overwhelmed.
So I talked to the recruiter first, then the hiring manager, then two people from the team together, and finally the head of engineering. Each chat was about 45 minutes and covered different stuff they told me about beforehand.
