QA Engineer
So I had this 30 min call with a recruiter first. Then I got a technical trial project. The task was to find bugs in some data and figure out what caused them. I also got to fix the problems I found, which I did. After they looked at the project, I had a one hour talk with the QA Leader.
- Can you explain the difference between priority and severity?
QA Manager
I was contacted by the recruiter. First, there was a presentation about the company, which was useful because it meant we didn't waste time on obvious questions. The interview went well, and we decided I was a good fit. I immediately got a take-home exercise that was interesting and fun to do. I finished it in two days, though there was no deadline. I sent the solution, including the code link and everything else. I got a confirmation email saying they'd get back to me, but then they went silent. I sent a follow-up asking for an update, but never heard back. It felt like they vanished. The job is probably filled since it's no longer on their website. If they had just said I wasn't a good fit, that would have been fine. But ghosting is really bad. It's a terrible way to treat someone.
- Complete a take-home challenge that involves solving a classic puzzle-type problem.
QA Engineer
I applied online and they gave me a test as the first step in the interview process. The assignment was to write a test plan for one of their products. I spent about 5-6 hours learning about the product and other aspects, then prepared the test plan. After submitting it, the HR said they'd get back to me soon with feedback. Two weeks passed with no feedback. I reached out to HR and was told the role was closed because someone internally took it, and they were stopping my interview process. What the heck! I wasted my weekend for this. If this was the case, they should have checked internally before opening a job vacancy. Such a waste of time.
