The interview process was straightforward with two interviews. First, a brief but informative recruiter screening. Then, a final interview with a manager. I really enjoyed getting to know the team; they were laid back, informal, and approachable. It was an informative interview for both sides. They were also flexible about hybrid and remote work options. The team was patient, hospitable, and cool. The interviews were informative yet professional. The second interview focused more on technical aspects, including some behavioral questions, scenarios, and personality assessments.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Communication was a mess, lots of delays and I had to chase the recruiter for scheduling, even though they reached out to me. Started with a phone screen, then two virtual interviews, and finished with an in-person panel interview. Didn't get an offer and I'm not really sure why. After a month of recruiting and being told I was a top 2 candidate, I got a automated workday email at 1am on a Saturday. They didn't even call me. Super unprofessional and lacking tact.

Behavioral Presentation

I had four rounds of interviews in November 2023, meeting with different people from the team, the hiring managers, and even some C-suite execs. I even took time off my vacation to make their interview schedule work. Now, almost five months later, I got an email saying they filled the position. Good thing I found a better opportunity already. It's a good lesson to not bother with companies that don't seem to respect candidates' time because they probably won't respect you as an employee either.

The whole thing took about three months. Started with a recruiter phone screen, then a call with the hiring manager. After that, HR called to confirm some stuff. The final part was three in-person interviews. Then they made an offer, which was about 5% less than the minimum salary we'd discussed initially and then again with HR. I tried to negotiate, asking for 15% more salary, more PTO, a later start date, and a sign-on bonus. They agreed to the sign-on bonus and pushed start date, but not the salary or PTO. I told the hiring manager I was disappointed and needed a few days to think. A few hours later, the recruiter called and rescinded the offer, saying we were too far apart on salary. They never negotiated on the salary, which was below the minimum discussed from day one and confirmed by HR. I feel like if they weren't going to meet the minimum, we shouldn't have wasted all that time. The recruiter admitted that was a bit of a screw-up.
