Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zurich North America.
Data Scientist
First, a recruiter contacted me about the job and my background for an initial phone screen. They mentioned HR would contact me by the end of the week. When HR didn't reach out, I emailed the recruiter. They said there might have been a misunderstanding and HR would contact me early the next week. If not, I should email them again. However, HR still didn't contact me, and then I was rejected without any HR round occurring.
- Can you tell me about your background?
Data Scientist Intern
So it was a 2 part interview process. First, an HR round that lasted about 30 minutes. Then, a Hiring Manager round that was much longer, about 1.5 to 2 hours. For the HM round, you really need to be ready to talk about anything on your resume and have specific examples for the job qualifications. They also asked technical questions covering stats, ML, and coding, specifically asking if you can do it in Python or R.
- Can you describe your experience with large datasets?
Data Scientist
The entire interview process spanned approximately 3 weeks. It began with an HR phone screening. The subsequent round involved both a Behavioral and a Technical interview conducted via video call with two team members. I'm uncertain if there were any further stages.
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with a colleague and had to convince them to see your point of view.
- Describe a situation where you had to take the initiative and act as a leader.
