First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zulily.
Call Center Representative
In a group of 5, we were taken to a computer room and told to listen to 3 controlled calls. During each call, we had to note how the call center rep was performing. Afterward, we had to write a paragraph about which call best described Zulily's definition of 'Magic'. Then, I interviewed individually with a supervisor for about 15 minutes. After that, I went to HR to pick my schedule, which was set. I was told I'd get a decision via email within 24 hours. Once the decision email was sent, all employee paperwork was completed and submitted online. This email included a start date far enough out to allow me to give my current employer a two-week notice.
- Can you describe what makes a phone call 'magical' from the perspective of a call center representative?
Customer Service Representative
It was a group interview. We were all sent into this old warehouse that they used as their setup at the time, not sure if it's still there. The interviewer showed up 20 minutes late. We got a quick look around the operation, then got split into groups. One group did mock phone calls, and the other group had 1-on-1s with the hiring leads. After that, we were sent out and told to expect a call or email within 72 hours. The vibe was friendly but felt a bit fake and forced.
- Can you describe your most challenging customer interaction?
Customer Service Representative
The hiring process was super fast, I think because they're new in Gahanna. First, there was a phone interview where the recruiter was really nice and just asked about my background and about Zulily and the job. I got invited back for a second interview. She mentioned they do things a bit differently and to expect to be there for 2 hours, which we were, but it was actually a really fun experience. They split us into two groups of 4-5 people. The first group did the group interviews while the second group waited for the 1:1 interviews. It was really fun and different. The 1:1 interview was basically to see how you build rapport with a customer and to pick a magazine that matches their likes. It was a lot of fun, and the management was great to be around and interact with.
- What does your mother symbolize to you?
- Describe an instance when you embraced change rapidly and how you adjusted.
