Thermal Engineer
I had an hour-long initial chat with the recruiter, who seemed really keen and set up a meeting with the hiring manager. After some back-and-forth over a week, I was ghosted. Then, two months later, the same recruiter called, apologized, and asked to set up the next part. I met the team, which was super disorganized – people were late, coming and going, and they didn't even have a room booked. The interview, supposed to be an hour, ended up dragging on for three hours. The hiring manager, that same Taiwanese guy, had absolutely no people skills. He even walked me to the washroom and asked me a question while I was using it. After all that, I was ghosted again for a month. When I finally contacted the recruiter, he just said they weren't interested. The whole work culture and team felt really toxic and chaotic. I wouldn't recommend it.
- Can you discuss heat transfer concepts and the relevant formulas?
- How does a thermocouple work, and what are its common uses?
Thermal Engineer
Since everything was virtual due to covid, the whole interview process was done remotely. First, I had a phone interview with my recruiter. We talked about my past work experience and if I was willing to move to NJ. Then, I had a video call with the hiring manager and two other senior engineers for the second round. They asked me a bunch of technical questions.
- How would you go about troubleshooting problems in Flotherm?
Thermal Engineer
The interview process began with a phone screening with the recruiter, which was a positive experience; they were helpful. The second round was with the hiring manager, and it was a very negative experience. The manager started asking 'tell me about yourself' but interrupted before I could finish. They then asked questions in an unusual manner. Due to their accent, I had to ask for repetitions often to understand the questions. There was no facial feedback while I was answering, leaving me unsure if my responses were correct. The entire interaction felt uncomfortable, leading me to be relieved not to get the job.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What exactly is a simulation engineer?
- Could you explain what air ducts and heat chips are?
