Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ZL Technologies.
Marketing Associate
First I completed an online application, then took a 15-minute online IQ assessment, followed by answering 3-4 general questions about myself, which I recorded and submitted. After getting through that stage, I was called in for an on-site interview a week later because I was a local candidate and due to meeting timings, bypassing the initial phone call. On the interview day, I arrived and was taken to a room for another 16-minute test consisting of basic GRE quant problems (50 questions in 16 minutes). After that, the HR gave me a list of characteristic words and asked me to arrange them in the order that best describes me, explaining my choices. They also asked a few questions about my past experiences and what I did. Following that, I was interviewed by a marketing team member who asked situational and behavioral questions to understand my career goals and learn more about me. I had the opportunity to ask some questions. I was informed I'd hear about the next round by the end of the week, which was supposed to be with the marketing manager and CEO, but I received a rejection email by the end of the week. Despite the process, I didn't encounter any red flags, although some people report negative experiences.
- Can you identify a company with strong marketing and explain why?
- Can you name a company with poor marketing and suggest improvements you would make?
- Could you tell me about yourself and who you are?
Marketing Associate
I applied for this job through my university. Within a week of applying, I got a link to complete a speed test. Just two hours after finishing the test, I got an email for a phone interview. We scheduled a time, but on the morning of the interview, they emailed to cancel the discussion because of an internal meeting. I had the interview the following week. It was a normal HR process, but a bit strange. After I went over my resume, they asked me why I applied for this position. They wanted someone for sales, not marketing analysis, and they questioned why they interviewed me given my background in quantitative analysis, especially since the company lacks large datasets for analysis and has only one product to sell.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you want to apply for this role?
- Given your resume, why do you think you were interviewed for this position?
Marketing Associate
So first they sent me this online speed math test which I had to take around the same time they offered me an interview. The same test was given again when I went for the in-person interview. For the interview, the recruiter and the CEO came to my college. I interviewed with each of them one-on-one. The recruiter also gave me some brain teasers, and the CEO asked me to rank some personal qualities like creativity and perseverance. The whole interview day took about 2 hours. I got my offer via email and had two days to decide.
- Do you prefer working alone or with a team?
- Could you rank these personal qualities: creativity, perseverance, etc.?
