First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ZipRecruiter.
Account Manager
The hiring process was really organized and had a few steps. It started with a super friendly HR rep who told me all about what the company offers. Then I had a phone chat with someone currently in management. Finally, I did a face-to-face interview with two different hiring managers from the leadership team. My best advice is to be ready and bring your A-game. The interviews weren't overly tough, but they're definitely looking for people who are motivated, energetic, have personality, want to grow, and can take and use feedback.
- Are you more driven by a desire to win or a fear of losing?
- Can you describe your experience working with metrics and achieving goals?
Account Manager
I applied online and then had 2 interviews with the recruiter. After that, I had one phone interview with the Sales Manager. The interview was supposed to be at 3:30pm on 3/30. I got an email from HR saying they were calling, and then saw the call display at 3:47am, but it didn't ring. I called back and the interviewer sounded annoyed, saying they were emailing a client. I was put on hold for about 3 minutes with a lot of background noise. They apologized afterward and then started the interrogation, which felt antagonistic. They asked a lot about 'hunter' type sales activity, even though the job is with existing clients. The interview felt one-sided, and they weren't receptive to my answers or clear about their expectations. There was also a vibe of possible restructuring and layoffs because the company is moving to cheaper facilities in another state.
- Can you summarize your experience for each job on your resume?
- Do you have hunting sales experience in those roles?
- Are you scared of cold calling?
Account Manager
They interviewed a bunch of us at the same time, which made it quite awkward for everybody. They said that they were trying this out so they could interview more candidates, in less time. This was a bad idea from a job seeker's perspective. It felt like we were cattle being herded through their 3-hour interview process.
- Can you share your biggest success?
- Can you share your biggest failure?
- What are your goals?
