I saw one of the coolest offices ever. A recruiter set me up with a BC, and I asked a ton of questions which he answered kindly and professionally. Then, I was moved to a small room to meet three people: two managers and a 'Senior Member.' This Senior Member was unprofessional, telling me that Zillow prioritizes internal candidates and only hires externally when necessary. I was surprised and felt eliminated, wondering why I was even there. With 10 years in online media and a real estate background, plus good references and sales success, I expected some feedback. I figured I was out because I was external, and this process seemed unusual for them. My advice to Zillow is to give external candidates a chance, regardless of age, sex, or background. Their culture seems very young, and I didn't notice much diversity, especially in age, on the sales floor. It seems they promote from within, making it clear if you're an outsider. Senior members should be more respectful to external candidates, even for entry-level roles. I wasn't very impressed.

The interview process at Zillow felt like stepping into a youthful company culture. It seemed that agents paying for "Premium" services were receiving guidance from individuals in their early twenties who lacked real estate licenses. My background and license in Real Estate appeared to be disadvantages, as my experience might lead me to question their methods. It seems Zillow would not hire someone with extensive RE experience if they are older.
