First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zillow.
Strategic Account Manager
The hiring comms were all done through AI. No real email addresses from Zillow team were provided and you weren’t able to communicate anything other than your availability. Lacked any human touch. I moved through 2 rounds of interviews only to hear nothing back. No “thanks, but we’ve decided to go in another direction” just nothing at all. This same thing happened in a previous interview process with them years ago as well.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully converted a negative client response into a positive outcome?
- Describe a situation where you persuaded a client from a 'no' to a 'yes'.
Account Manager
I applied in early June. A recruiter reached out to discuss the role, including job duties, pay, and my work history. I then had two days to respond to some questions about my work ethic and how I handle workplace situations, essentially to gauge my email communication skills. After that, I had four in-person interviews at the Zillow office in Irvine. The interviews were all very relaxed and comfortable. I received and accepted the offer about two weeks later. From the first contact, you'll feel like you want to be part of the Zillow team. Everyone is very welcoming, and the work environment and team focus make it exciting to go to work each day. Zillow really invests in its employees, which is something other companies should notice. I feel fortunate to have this chance to join such a great company.
- What makes you want to join Zillow?
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations for a client?
- Do you prefer working independently or as part of a team?
Account Manager
The interview process was quite thorough. I went through 10 interviews in total, split into two main parts: first, a Sales interview, and then an Account Management interview. The whole experience took about 6-8 hours, involving three phone calls, one video chat, and six in-person meetings. Everyone I talked to was knowledgeable and asked insightful questions, showing a deep understanding of Zillow's business. Although I felt very confident and thought I had secured the position, I received an automated rejection email, which felt a bit dismissive given the time invested.
- Be ready to practice selling something for the Sales interview.
- For the Account Management role, they are more interested in learning about you as a person, your work style, your interests, and how you manage challenging circumstances.
