Behavioral Presentation

The interview process is pretty simple. First, you talk to one of the Associates that has been working there for a couple months. Then you talk to the Director of the company (5 minutes). In my case, I had to talk to a person that has been working there for 3 years. I was asked about my aspirations, my experience, etc. They express their interest right away if they think you are a good fit and contact you in 1-2 days.

I had made my resume public on a job posting website for recruiters and soon got an email for this company saying "they had some open positions" but not specifying what they were. I looked up the company, and after seeing that it was far out of my way (90-120 minute commute) and wasn't in the field of work I'm targeting, I ignored the email. A day or so later, I get a call from a woman in HR saying "we have some available jobs for you! Didn't you get my email?" I said yes, but politely declined her offer, explaining that the commute wasn't realistic for me. She immediately dropped any pretense of friendliness, and asked where I lived. I answered, and she said "well we have people who make that 90 minute commute every day." I again politely declined, and said a commute that long wasn't realistic for me. She then took a snarky tone and asked "oh, so you're only looking for a commute that's 5 or 10 minutes?" I said not necessarily, but 90+ minutes was just too excessive for me. She then said "well we only have one office location so I don't know if there's anything I can do for you." I reminded her that she had called me; not the other way around. If this company is trying to recruit just anyone, regardless of their background or responsiveness, that should be a red flag for their turnover rate.

I learned about a job opening with Zerin from a friend, which was posted online. It looked interesting and like a good fit for my first job. I sent in my resume and got an email back expressing interest. I scheduled a meeting at their office with the President. Getting to the office was tough due to construction for the new metro right in front of their building, making me a bit late. The interviewer didn't mention my lateness, but I felt underprepared. So, if you have an interview with them, plan ahead to avoid traffic. They won't inform you about the construction, but I am. Good luck.
