Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zerin Business Consulting.
Marketing
I got a call from a recruiter at Zerin Business Consulting who said the CEO got my application and wanted to interview me right away, even though I never applied for a job there. I checked their postings and noticed all the jobs had the same description. The recruiter also didn't ask me about my experience or education. When I agreed to interview, they only gave me one time option for the next day and never sent the promised follow-up email with details on location, what to bring, or how to dress, which seemed odd for a professional with a master's degree. Researching online, it seemed like ZBC might be a door-to-door sales company posing as a sales and marketing role. When I tried to cancel and called the number the recruiter gave me, it was out of service, and the number on their website also didn't work.

The initial round was a Skype interview because I'm from out of state. They called later that day, around 8:30 p.m., to say I'd passed to the second round. I scheduled it for the following week. The day before, I got a confirmation email for a 1:30 p.m. interview the next day. I drove over 8 hours for it, but when I got there, the office was completely deserted. I waited for 20 minutes, hoping someone would show up, but no one did. I tried calling the HR person who set it up, but there was no answer, even though it was 1:30 on a weekday. Not only did nobody show up, but they never called me back. I should have listened to the reviews and avoided this company.

I was contacted by the company and the interview process was short. I found out that other companies hire Zerin to do direct marketing for them. There are a lot of companies that have this type of business structure, they call it network marketing. So they create a network of businesses who pay them to market and do brand management for their company or product. It definitely seems like an interesting business model and everyone I met during my interviews seemed nice but I am looking for more of a contract position.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
