IT Manager
Things went pretty smoothly. A recruiter from Talent Acquisition reached out to schedule a phone screen. The process was Phone Screen -> chat with my direct manager -> meet with different teams I'd be working with. Even though I made it to the final round, I didn't get the offer. I think I got nervous with the last two interviews, so I kind of expected it. It's a bummer, but they were all really nice and upfront, so I respect their choice and trust that I was lacking in some area or just wasn't the right fit for them.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What prompted your job search?
- What are your career aspirations at this time?
Information Security Engineer
First, a recruiter reached out via email to gauge my interest. Then, I had several phone screens with HR and the hiring manager. I spoke with people from various teams and disciplines about my previous and current work to see if I'd be a good fit. Some of these discussions were in person, and others were remote video calls. The hiring manager also had a one-on-one chat with me to assess fit. We negotiated the salary before the main interviews, and I got the final go-ahead and contract before starting as a direct hire.
- Tell me about your approach to security processes.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- What are you currently working on?
Language QA Tester
HR reached out for a phone chat with the hiring manager. A week later, I talked to the manager on the phone and it went super well. Then HR contacted me again to say I had to do another phone interview, this time with a QA team member. It took a few weeks to get this scheduled since the person was on vacation. The interview was in the target language and went well. After that, HR was really evasive when I emailed, and after a month and several unanswered emails, they told me I didn't get the job. It was pretty obvious by then, but I was bummed they ghosted me after two interviews.
- Can you describe your experience with QA testing?
Senior Front End Engineer
I applied online and the recruiter hit me up the next day. Then I spoke with the department supervisor the day after that. After that, the parent company's HR team got in touch and had me fill out a more detailed application. The interview was set for a week after I finished that. It was a 3.5-hour thing with 4 separate 1:1 chats. One of the chats had a surprise coding challenge; I'd asked the recruiter if that would happen and they said no. ZeniMax never got back to me after, even though they said I'd hear within a week.
- Tell me about a project you worked on that didn't succeed. Explain why you consider it a failure. What actions would you have taken differently at the time? What changes would you have made from the start, with the benefit of hindsight?
- Could you describe a failed project you were part of? What led you to deem it a failure? What would you have done differently during the project? What might you have changed at the beginning, knowing what you know now?
