Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zendrive.
Business Development
A recruiter reached out and I had an initial phone call. I was then expecting an in-person interview but instead had another phone call, which was okay. After that second call, I was told I'd have a call with upper management. They scheduled it but then rescheduled. I waited and followed up a few times, but never heard back or got an explanation. I get that things happen or another candidate might be a better fit, but a simple reply would have been professional. I spent a lot of time prepping ideas to present, which was my call, but it would have been nice to be treated properly. Seems like this isn't just me.
- Can you tell me about your experience and how you handle different situations?
- What are your thoughts on approaching certain aspects of the role?
Director of Business Development
I was sourced for this role and didn't apply directly. The interview process involved several phone screens, first with a recruiter, then about two more rounds with the Head of BD/hiring manager and another employee. It culminated in an in-person presentation with about five people, including the CEO. The recruiter was very rude and cocky throughout. The CEO was also condescending, asking me to do a live LinkedIn search during the in-person interview. The Head of BD was quiet and it became clear they were looking for a pure sales role, not business development as initially presented, so the role description was unclear from the start. My rejection came via an unstructured email from the recruiter listing perceived flaws, which lacked basic tact.
- Could you prepare a presentation about our top prospective partner and outline the key deliverables for the first month and six months?
Business Development
The recruiting team was super responsive and professional. The process involved a phone screen, followed by a few video interviews, and then an onsite presentation. Everyone I met was friendly, which really gave me a feel for the company culture.
- Can you walk me through a project or client you've worked with, detailing the challenges, your specific role and actions, and the final outcomes?
