They hired me right away after a brief, unimpressive interview with two managers. They didn't ask many questions, just wanted to hire someone quickly who could be easily replaced.

I dropped off my resume at the customer service desk and the HR manager called me within a few days for a quick phone chat. They set up an in-person interview for a couple days later. When I got there, I filled out an application while waiting for the manager. Then, I was taken to her office where I met her and had the interview. She was really friendly and asked about my school and future plans. It was a formal interview but felt pretty relaxed. I got hired right away and started orientation a week later.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process starts with a phone interview where they'll ask about your interest in retail and Zellers, how others see you, and a time you took charge. They'll also ask about your availability. For cash positions, they'll specifically ask about promoting the HBC Credit Card. You might also discuss past conflicts and how you resolved them. The face-to-face interview, usually with the head supervisor, will cover similar questions about conflicts and taking charge. Dress nicely and be polite. Some playfulness is okay, but avoid sarcasm. After the interview, they'll either say they'll be in touch or arrange a walk-through. All employees must be cash trained, with the manager deciding who gets trained.
