The interview process was very direct and formal, lasting about 30 minutes. It went well, and I consider it one of the best interviews I've had to date.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process starts with a phone interview where they'll ask about your interest in retail and Zellers, how others see you, and a time you took charge. They'll also ask about your availability. For cash positions, they'll specifically ask about promoting the HBC Credit Card. You might also discuss past conflicts and how you resolved them. The face-to-face interview, usually with the head supervisor, will cover similar questions about conflicts and taking charge. Dress nicely and be polite. Some playfulness is okay, but avoid sarcasm. After the interview, they'll either say they'll be in touch or arrange a walk-through. All employees must be cash trained, with the manager deciding who gets trained.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a phone interview where they asked basic questions about your past work experience and why you wanted to work at Zellers. If that went well, they invited you for a second interview. This second interview began with a math and skills test, which you had about 10 minutes to complete, featuring basic multiplication and division problems. Following the test, there was a 20-minute interview where they asked about your past work and experience in various situations. It was important to dress nicely for this part.
