Product Manager Intern
The interview will involve straightforward behavioral and product sense questions. Focus on communicating clearly, structuring your thoughts, explaining tradeoffs, and being concise. The goal is to showcase your thinking process, not just the final answers, and to link your decisions to user impact and objectives.
- Can you introduce yourself?
Product Manager
The process started with a recruiter chat, then a hiring manager call, which were both great. The final round involved two Product Managers reporting to the hiring manager. This last part was a really bad experience. One of the PMs, who used to be a developer, asked some really weird questions. They weren't clear and just felt unprofessional, like their tone and attitude were off.
- Suppose you were given $500,000 and a product idea and asked to be the CEO. How would you pitch yourself for that role?
Product Manager
LinkedIn recruiter reached out about a role. They thought I had the soft skills, but not the technical ones. HR screening happened about two weeks later, and they decided to move forward. About 10 days after that, I had a 90-minute phone interview with the hiring manager in the US. It was pretty relaxed. Then, another 90-minute phone interview with the same US manager, also relaxed, but this time I asked the questions. Next, I spoke with two people from the UK team for 45 minutes. It was relaxed and easy, with no tough or technical questions. I got an email yesterday saying they're going with someone with more experience, which was about 5 weeks after I first applied. I'm 32 with 6-7 years of experience, so I guess the others were a bit older with more experience. No issues with the process or their decision, but I think a face-to-face interview might have helped my chances since they mentioned I sound younger on the phone than I am.
- What are your thoughts on working non-standard hours?
- How do you plan to adjust to this career transition?
- What's your motivation for wanting to join our company?
