So I got invited to an onsite after a recruiter chat. I was supposed to be there from 1 to 5 pm. I had to drive about 40 minutes in traffic from Berkeley. When I arrived, there was construction, and it was chaos because they had moved to a different building. The interviewer was a lead engineer. I mentioned I drove straight from school in traffic, but he didn't even offer me water. First thing he did was critique my resume, saying it was poorly organized and even showed me someone else's. Then he gave me a brainteaser and asked me to code a small class. After an hour, he said he was done and I had to wait for the next person. The next person came in and immediately told me to leave, saying the lead engineer didn't like me and they didn't want to waste more time because they're a busy company. I thought he was joking when he said the first guy didn't like me, figuring they were trying to create a casual vibe. I felt pretty annoyed, honestly. It felt like a waste of time and money. You have to dedicate like 4 hours, go to their office, aren't even offered water, and then they just dismiss you because their time is more valuable.

Technical Coding

It started with a technical phone interview where the lead engineer gave me a really cool custom problem to work on. He was super helpful, offering lots of hints when I got stuck. After that, I moved on to the onsite interviews. There were four of them, and they all involved coding or whiteboarding. I encountered one DP question and a few other problems similar to LeetCode medium. Even though I didn't get the offer in the end, the team was really friendly, and the whole experience was low-stress. I genuinely enjoyed it, and the lead engineer was a great person.

Coding Technical

I applied through my university's website. Then, an HR person reached out to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager sent me a Google Doc link to code in, which I thought was a bit strange since they didn't use a professional coding environment. The whole phone call was about 15 minutes because I struggled a bit, and it seemed like the interviewer decided on my coding abilities within that short time.
