& Process

First, there was a 1-on-1 with the hiring manager, lasting about 45-60 mins, to discuss my background and interest in the role, and for me to learn more about the job. Then, Round 2 involved preparing 4 exercises with vague instructions. I was initially told I'd present one, but ended up having to present all 4. They also gave me an exercise I had no prior experience with, which felt unfair in assessing my skill transferability. This round required 5-8 hours of unpaid prep time. Round 3 was the final interview, a presentation of the exercises to two interviewers. The vibe was awkward from the start, with curt, low-energy greetings and delayed responses when I asked questions during the presentation, needing prompts to unmute. On top of that, interview dates kept getting pushed back.

After submitting an online application and an online video profile, YouGov held a really friendly, engaging, and well-organized assessment day for their graduate program. It included plenty of breaks, opportunities to ask questions, meet current grads, and learn about the company. The day featured an initial presentation from the company, an icebreaker activity, an office tour, and a group task that finished with a group presentation. For the group task, we had to decide on a potential client for YouGov to work with and determine which of YouGov's services would best fit their needs. We then had lunch, followed by interviews and tests. The group challenge was set up well, giving us more than enough information, and the tests were manageable with adequate time to complete them. The one-on-one interview felt welcoming and made me feel genuinely involved with the interviewers, not just like I was going through a checklist.

Had a phone screening with HR, then an interview with the team lead. The whole thing took about 2 weeks. The interviewer seemed really enthusiastic about the company's solutions and the industry. It was a really nice chat overall. HR was also pretty responsive.
