First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at YouGov.
Research Manager
I had 4 interviews in total. The first two were pretty good, but the second one had a technical issue with the Zoom link, so I had to reschedule. The process got a bit strange for the last two interviews. They initially said there would only be three interviews, but one interviewer missed my third interview, so they scheduled a makeup. They didn't explain why the interviewer missed it, just asked me to find more time in my schedule. In the rescheduled interview, the same interviewer joined from her phone, using earbuds, seemingly from an Uber on her way to the office, which felt very unprofessional. She then asked some odd questions that felt like she was trying to find reasons not to hire me. It was an uncomfortable experience, and I felt disrespected by her and the overall hiring process. After all that, I just received a generic rejection email.
- What makes you want to work for YouGov?
Research Manager
First, they'll probably check out your application to see if you basically fit the job. If you do, you might get a call or video chat with a recruiter or the hiring manager to talk about your background and see if you're a good culture fit. Then, you might have to do a test or a case study related to the job skills. If you nail that, you'll likely have an in-person interview with the team, maybe even some bosses, where you'll dive deeper into your qualifications and how you'd handle the role.
- Tell me about your leadership experience with research projects and teams.
- Could you share your background in managing research initiatives and leading research personnel?
- What's your track record in guiding research projects and overseeing research teams?
Research Manager
I had a 40-minute interview. There were no tests or quizzes, just questions about my experience, projects I've worked on, my knowledge of the research process, and what I like or dislike about my job. The atmosphere was nice, friendly, and professional, and the office was cool.
- Which project did you enjoy working on the most?
- How would you handle a situation where a client does not agree with you?
