Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at York University.
Software Engineer
It was a really good interview, full of questions about life and fun stuff. I really enjoyed it and I hope they call me back soon for another interview because I felt so happy. It lasted about 30 minutes and had a lot of questions.
- Tell me about your day.
- Where do you hail from?
Software Developer Intern
The interview was super easy and uncomplicated. They asked about my past experience and for me to talk about work situations. There was one quick coding problem and then a longer one. We also chatted about the job and what it involves. The whole interview felt really relaxed, and it was easy to ask my own questions.
- Tell me about a challenging situation you managed at work.
Applications Developer
I had a recruiter call, and it was pretty straightforward. I managed to answer all their questions, which really impressed them. The hiring manager was particularly pleased. I made sure to be honest about what I knew and what I'd need to research or learn, rather than trying to bluff my way through. This approach worked really well.
