Yolo Group Frontend Engineer Interview Questions

The interview process at Yolo is pretty great, super simple and quick. The interviewers are nice and know their stuff. They answered all my questions about the company and the role. All the tasks and questions were directly related to the job requirements. The whole thing took about 2-3 weeks. First, there's an intro call to get to know Yolo and the position, covering cultural fit, your background as an engineer, and what you're looking for. Since it's a relocation job, we also discussed the relocation package. Then, a technical interview with a Yolo engineer happens, discussing technical details, your past work, and anything interesting about the job. After that, there's a 30-40 minute frontend specific part focusing on React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and testing. The final step is a take-home test that you get a week to complete. It's a React and TypeScript project with clear instructions and requirements.

I had an initial chat with the recruiter to see if we were a good fit. After that, I was given a take-home project that took about a week to complete. Then, there was a 1-hour technical interview with some developers where they asked me about React and JavaScript. They mentioned I'd have an HR interview next, but it never happened. I tried reaching out via email and LinkedIn, but got no response for over a month. It's pretty disappointing because I liked the company, but the lack of feedback and communication after the process was quite rude.

The interview process started with a 30-minute recruiter call. After that, there was a take-home task that took about 4-6 hours to complete. This involved making a GraphQL request, displaying the results, adding search functionality, and covering it with tests. This was followed by a technical interview focused mainly on JS and React questions. The Product Manager and Lead Engineer were quite poker-faced, and their soft skills weren't great. They just asked questions from their laptops, without much discussion or small talk. The whole process up to the third round took about 4 weeks. I was supposed to hear back within 3 days after the technical interview, but I never did. The recruiter then messaged saying they were still processing and would update me in another 4 days. Still no word. I reached out, and they said they weren't filling the position currently but had a frontend role on another team and wanted me to do another home task. I had already spent 10 hours and asked if my previous work could be considered since the tech stack was similar. I never heard back. Super annoyed, I really liked the company, and a simple no would have been fine, but keeping me hanging like this felt really disrespectful.
