Sales Representative
Got a message on LinkedIn, so I did a quick phone chat with the recruiter the next day. They mostly talked about the company and benefits, and asked a bit about me. Then we set up an in-person interview for the next Monday. When I got there early, the receptionist was super nice and offered water. The recruiter was a little late, showed me around the office, and I shadowed someone for about half an hour. Afterwards, I did a quick questionnaire on a laptop, and then the recruiter asked me about 5-6 questions, some behavioral, but pretty standard stuff. I asked her about the company culture and goals. The day after, I got an email for a background check, and then the offer came through. It was pretty straightforward.
- What makes you a good fit for Yodle?
Sales Representative
It's a 2 step process. First, the recruiter will give you a call to screen you. Then, you have an in person interview where you shadow a sales rep and then interview and do a script read through with the recruiter. After the phone screen, which does a brief run down of why you want the position and asks about what motivates you. then they go into the details of the job and see if they think you would be a good fit. After they schedule an in person interview with you, they send you a ten minute timed tech assessment which is very easy but you have to pay attention and make sure you do it on a desktop/laptop. It does not function properly on chromebooks/tablets/cell phones. They also send a background check to start that process as well. The in person interview is pretty cool. You actually get to see what you would be doing on a daily basis by shadowing one of the more seasoned sales reps and listening to their calls and actually asking the questions. You get to feel the atmosphere and hear the gong being rung, etc. Then the interview is really what you make of it. First impressions matter here. The best thing is that they give you a sample sales script and ask you to read through it with them so they can see if you can intelligently navigate through it in a time efficient manner.
- Can you share an instance where you faced and overcame a challenge?
- Describe a situation where you received and acted upon feedback.
Sales Representative
The interview process was quite extensive. Initially, I attended an open house interview, and then I was invited back for a second, more in-depth interview that lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. The hiring manager seemed engaging, and I was told I'd receive a call afterward, but I never heard back. The office environment aims for a laid-back vibe with people on phones and engaging in banter, including contests for top commissions. It was a very loud office; a customer service rep had to repeat himself to the owner. Although it involves cold calls, a script is provided. This job is for social butterflies who don't mind constant interaction. If you prefer to just do your work and leave, this isn't the place. I believe they assess personality during the intro, observing interactions with other candidates and engaging in small talk to gauge social skills. The environment felt a bit too cliquish for me. If you're a serious sales rep focused on results, this might not be the right fit as they seem to want a very specific type of personality.
