Sales Associate
I applied to the company in October 2009 after hearing about them and loving the job description and location. I didn't hear back until March when Ashley from the company emailed to set up a phone interview. I was really excited and prepared by researching the company inside and out. Ashley called and described the position in about 30 seconds, asked if it sounded good, and I said yes. She then asked about my spare time and experience and ended the call abruptly. The entire phone interview was only about 3.5 minutes. She sounded rushed and was speed talking. I answered all questions enthusiastically, believing I was a perfect fit based on my research. I never heard from them again and was very disappointed by her rude and rushed demeanor.

- What experience do you possess?
Sales Associate
The interview process was immersive, transparent, and goal-oriented. During the phone interview, I was worried I was making a bad impression due to nervousness and stuttering. However, asking thoughtful questions about management structure, training, and personal challenges seemed to help. The in-person interview was different; after waiting, I was taken to a conference room with a sales script and phone. Before introductions, I had to call the number and read the script. I was nervous and struggled due to dyslexia. After the call, they explained that reading the script wasn't the best sales approach, which relieved me for the rest of the interview. The whole thing lasted about 1.5-2 hours and involved speaking with four sales managers who were bright, motivated, transparent, and extroverted, each showing a distinct trait that gave me insight into the workplace. Overall, I had a great experience interviewing with Yext and accepted their offer.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What makes you want to leave your current job?
- What motivates you to pursue a career in sales?
Sales Associate
I heard about the Sales Associate job from a friend who saw a post on social media from someone they knew who worked there. I emailed the hiring manager on a Friday afternoon and had a phone interview that same day. We then scheduled an in-person interview for the next Monday morning. When I got there, Danielle, the sales administrator, greeted me warmly and took me to a meeting room with glass walls behind the sales area. I was interviewed one by one by three people: a training manager and two sales managers. They were all pretty young and seemed like chill but professional people. The questions were quite direct; if you know yourself well, you should be able to answer them honestly and without much trouble. I felt like my interview went great, and I got positive feedback like 'Wow, that was a good answer.' from each interviewer at least twice. However, they sent me an email two days later saying they didn't think my background was a good match for the role. I'm not totally sure what kind of background they're looking for in entry-level sales, but that's how it goes. I guess I probably didn't get hired because I didn't answer the question about why I'm better than other candidates in a super aggressive, sales-pitchy way, which I regretted immediately.
- What one thing from your past would you change if you could?
- Can you tell us what makes you stand out from all the other candidates we've seen?
