First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Yext.
Business Development Representative
I went through four interviews in total. The first was with the Talent Acquisition Partner, focusing on my background and motivation. The second and third interviews with managers covered sales skills, prospecting strategies, and handling objections through mock calls. The final interview focused on cultural fit and overall motivation for the role. Throughout the process, everyone was friendly, communicative, and supportive. I received prompt feedback after each round, which helped me feel confident and prepared for the next stage.
- Tell me why you're interested in Yext.
- How do you deal with rejection when selling?
- What is your understanding of Yext's products and the market they operate in?
Business Development Representative
The interview process was professional, well-structured, and welcoming from start to finish. My first chat was with Krisztina, the recruiter, who clearly explained the role, expectations, and next steps. I then had a second interview with Harri Vivian, which was more focused on my motivations, mindset, and potential to succeed in the role. After that, I spoke with John Neale to assess commercial thinking and cultural fit, and finally had a conversation with Scott Laird which rounded off the process. Each stage felt respectful and honest. It never felt like a box-ticking exercise. Everyone I met made a real effort to understand my background, what drives me, and how I would adapt to the transition into tech sales. The communication was consistent throughout and the overall experience left a very strong impression.
- Can you tell me what prompted your move from a technical background into sales?
- What are your primary motivators?
- What is your understanding of the BDR role and how do you define success in this position?
Business Development Representative
The whole interview process took about 2 weeks. First, there was a quick screening call, then two more interviews. The people interviewing were nice and asked some good questions. Make sure you know what Yext does, and be ready to talk about your skills and why you're interested in sales.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered an objection and describe how you managed it?
- Describe your understanding of Yext.
- What motivates your desire to pursue a career in sales?
