Customer Success Manager
So there were three rounds in total. The first two were pretty good, like, professional and informative. Then came this final panel interview where I had to do a presentation. It's a pretty standard ask, but it takes a lot of time and you don't even know if you'll get an offer. I tried to stay positive though and just saw it as a learning experience. But the panel interview itself was a bit of a letdown. It felt kind of exclusionary at times, with them making jokes and references I wouldn't get as a candidate. It made me feel like an outsider. They did say earlier on that they 'like to make jokes,' but some of the comments during the panel weren't lighthearted and felt dismissive or just made me uncomfortable. Thinking back, some of it felt like microaggressions, you know, those subtle things that can unintentionally send negative messages. It's a two-way street, interviews. While they're evaluating me, I'm also checking out the company culture. And honestly, based on that experience, it didn't feel like the collaborative and respectful place I'm looking for.
- Can you present on how you would manage a customer that was assigned to you after an unsuccessful pilot?
Customer Success Manager
It was a 3 stage process, all online as it's a remote company. The first stage was with People Ops where cameras were off. They reviewed my job history and skills. The second stage was with the VP of Customer Success (cameras on). We talked about working styles, team dynamics in CS, and industry insights. The third stage was a panel with two Sr. CSMs and the VP of Sales (cameras on). We discussed problem-solving philosophies and team operations.

Director of Product Management
The interview process didn't seem promising. The company outsources a lot of its development overseas, meaning you'd have to work late or early hours to communicate with them, which also suggests the company is trying to save money. The offered salary is too low for managing three people, developing strategy, and performing typical individual contributor product manager duties. Furthermore, the moving industry is characterized by unethical practices and low profit margins, contributing to their cost-cutting measures. Ultimately, not proceeding with this interview seems like a wise decision, avoiding potential future problems.
- What are your career aspirations for a new position?
Software Engineer
I was contacted on LinkedIn for an opening and had a good 45-minute chat. Next, I spoke with the hiring manager who was very different and discussed the job description and interview process. The interview started with high-level technical questions, followed by a take-home project. After submitting the project, I sent follow-up emails but received no response. The position was later marked as closed on the website. The hiring manager eventually responded after an hour stating they weren't moving forward after reviewing my code, which was frustrating given the time spent on the project.
- The candidate was asked to complete a take-home coding assignment.
