Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Yelp.
Account Executive
It was pretty straightforward. Expectations were clearly set. After getting referred by an employee, I got an email from a recruiter to set up a phone interview. I was asked basic questions and then moved to a video interview with the hiring manager, which was tougher. They showed some sample calls and then I did a mock/roleplay call. Normally, they give feedback and let you try again, but I only did it once.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working at Yelp?
Account Executive
It was okay, but not super clear and kind of misleading. They have a lot of account executive jobs, so it's hard to know exactly what you'd be doing. They don't mention the commission structure upfront, which is a bummer because you only find out about it once you're hired, and then you might be disappointed.
- Can you tell me about your work history?
- Describe your experience from previous jobs.
- What were your duties in your past roles?
Partner Account Executive
The interview process was disappointing. It involved a homework assignment and a presentation, along with video interviews. I didn't receive any feedback afterwards. They mentioned I might be a good fit for a different role but wouldn't refer me, so I had to apply on my own and didn't even get an initial screen. Given the negative feedback from past employees, it might have been a good thing.
- What have you been occupied with since your layoff?
- Can you tell me what you've been doing since you were laid off?
