I applied online and heard back a few days later about an interview. The interviewer started by talking about the company and the role, then asked about my past work and the programming languages I've used. Next, they asked some C++ questions about inheritance, STL data types, and the difference between structs and classes. It seemed like they were reading from a script, so I'm not sure they fully grasped my answers. At the end, they laid out the next steps: a non-technical chat with the hiring manager and four technical interviews with the team. After a week of silence, I followed up and got an automated rejection email.

The recruiter called me and asked about my background and multi-threading. They didn't move me forward, but the recruiter was nice. They did change the meeting time last minute, but overall it felt positive. It's a remote-friendly role.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you tell me about your background?
  • Can you elaborate on multi-threading and your background?

The whole process seemed to involve random calls with different people. The CEO even interviewed me. They told me they really wanted to hire me, and we started talking about business stuff. But then the CEO unexpectedly asked me an algorithm/data structures question, which caught me off guard. I solved it on a whiteboard pretty quickly, but I realized I messed up. The CEO didn't let me fix it, he just did it himself to show off. Then he dismissed me, ignoring all the good feedback from the other interviews. It felt like a one-person operation run by a really opinionated and biased dictator; if he doesn't like you, you're out.
