I applied online and heard back a few days later about an interview. The interviewer started by talking about the company and the role, then asked about my past work and the programming languages I've used. Next, they asked some C++ questions about inheritance, STL data types, and the difference between structs and classes. It seemed like they were reading from a script, so I'm not sure they fully grasped my answers. At the end, they laid out the next steps: a non-technical chat with the hiring manager and four technical interviews with the team. After a week of silence, I followed up and got an automated rejection email.

The recruiter called me and asked about my background and multi-threading. They didn't move me forward, but the recruiter was nice. They did change the meeting time last minute, but overall it felt positive. It's a remote-friendly role.

First, Yellowbrick contacted me and indicated my salary expectations were too high. Then, about a week later, I got an email saying they were excited to proceed to an interview with the hiring manager. I spoke with the hiring manager who discussed the role and expressed interest in moving me to the next round. A few days after that, I received an email informing me they had chosen another candidate. I'm confused because it seems like they decided not to meet my salary requirements after all, which felt like a waste of both our time.

I spoke with the HR recruiter and then three people from the team. Everything went super well in the interviews. They asked me for references because they had gotten such good feedback. Then I waited for over two weeks with no response to my emails. Eventually, they let me know I didn't get the job. This was definitely one of the worst hiring experiences I've had.
