Azure Data Engineer
It was a 2-round technical interview, each lasting about 45 minutes. The discussion was detailed and focused on Spark architecture, its internal workings, and optimization. The interviewer asked a lot of scenario-based questions. The interview went well.
- Can you explain the architecture of Spark?
- Describe how to process an incremental load with 100 files simultaneously using ADF.
- What are your strategies for handling failures in ADF?
Data Engineer
So the process included an aptitude test, then a technical MCQ section covering Python, Spark, SQL, Cloud Computing, and Machine Learning. After that, there was an HR group discussion. There was also a recruiter call somewhere in there, I think.
- Can you explain SQL constraints?
- Show the output of different joins between two tables.
Data Engineer
The interview process had 2 rounds. The first round was technical, and the second round was technical combined with a managerial interview. In the first round, I was asked about SQL queries, PySpark, and some AWS questions related to my past projects. The second round involved more difficult SQL and Spark questions. The HR called me a day after the second interview and mentioned they found someone with more skills than me.
- How would you optimize Spark?
- Can you write a SQL query to identify missing IDs?
- Create PySpark code to join two tables.
