First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Yapi Kredi.
Software Engineer
The interview process was long and involved several online assessments. One assessment was a HackerRank exam with three coding questions, one of which was difficult, but I managed to pass by completing two. The final interview was a combined HR and Technical interview via Microsoft Teams. They asked me some simple algorithm and data structure questions. I felt the interviewer was not very knowledgeable. Then, department managers asked database-related questions. They noticed my resume highlighted .Net experience instead of Java, which made me feel they were biased against my Java skills, even though it was for a new graduate position. I think I performed below my potential, which is likely why I was declined.
- Could you explain normalization and denormalization?
- Can you identify this data structure shown in Notepad++?
- Design a database for a school's class roll call system.
Software Developer
The first interview was with the team managers. It was a technical interview that lasted over 2.5 hours. They asked a lot of questions, starting with basic stuff like transactions and OOP. Then I had to implement a sorting algorithm on paper. Towards the end, they asked some strange, less useful questions to see how much I know, like about XA transactions. The whole time, they were really trying to pressure me to see how I handle anger and work under stress.
- Can you explain what a transaction is?
- What do you know about XA transactions?
- Please write down the quicksort algorithm on paper.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process was good and useful. Some technical questions were asked, covering design patterns, SOLID, and OOP, as well as time complexity, algorithms, and SQL tuning.
- Questions about design patterns
- Questions about SOLID principles
- Questions about OOP concepts
