Technical Coding Behavioral

The interview was pretty structured, focusing on hands-on skills and how to solve problems. They asked stuff about optimizing algorithms, deploying models, and Python coding. I had to do coding problems and talk about ML ideas like overfitting and feature engineering. After the technical interview, we chatted about past projects and how I dealt with real data. The interviewers were cool and stressed how important scalability and teamwork are.

Confirmed questions8 questions

  • In what ways do you address overfitting in a machine learning model?
  • Could you outline a machine learning project you've undertaken, including its most significant hurdles?

Behavioral Other

First there was an initial phone screening with their recruiter. He was nice, but the call was very short and not very informative of the role. Every time I talked to him he seemed overwhelmed, which was not his fault as the role has been open for almost two months I think, so he's probably just tired of the hiring manager passing on candidates. Next, a phone interview with the hiring director (he doesn't have a manager on his team as that position is open as well): It was totally fine. He explained the position well and sounded like a solid guy that would be easy enough to work with. Finally, a video panel interview with 3 different people, hiring director not involved: All 3 people were nice and easy going, which made the interview much more pleasant. The entire process took about 2 weeks. Overall, I think they are being overly picky about this position considering it's been open for so long. For a SENIOR specialist, the max pay was incredibly low for the high cost of living area.
