UI React Developer
It started with a quick 15-minute Zoom chat with the recruiter to see if I met the basic requirements and to discuss salary expectations. They also asked about my years of experience with all the required languages and tools. Towards the end, they threw in a few questions specifically about React.
- Could you explain what a React Component is?
- What are the two kinds of React components?
- Can you provide an example of a React hook?
UI Developer
So I had an initial call with the recruiter to chat about the job and answer some general questions about myself. After that, I was sent a take-home coding assignment using React, where I had to build a small application that pulled data from an external API, then sort and edit that data on the page. I had 24 hours to get that done. The next step was a technical interview. They gave me some JavaScript code with a bug I needed to find. We also reviewed my take-home project and talked about adding a couple small things to it. They also asked me about dealing with tough clients and some Git questions, like about merge conflicts. I didn't make it past that stage.
- How can merge conflicts best be prevented?
Software Developer
I had an initial phone interview with the Technical recruiter. It seemed to go okay, and they mentioned sending out an online coding assignment. The recruiter even asked when I'd prefer to receive it, considering its time limit. I emailed them my preference right after, but then I didn't hear back for a week. They finally replied a week later, asking again about the timing for the coding challenge. I responded immediately, but still no email with the challenge. This recruiter was very unprofessional. If they weren't interested in hiring, they should have just sent a rejection instead of making candidates wait. I bet others had this happen too. Don't waste your time applying here!
- Can you tell me about yourself?
React Developer
I applied online. The process was really professional and moved pretty fast. Started with a phone screen covering React basics, then a take-home task focused on React and fetching data from APIs. After that, the first interview involved debugging some code, talking about the coding assignment, making small feature additions, handling Git problems, and managing client scenarios. The last interview was with the CTO, and I had to implement a string method.
- Can you implement string methods from scratch?
