Software Engineer
I saw their internship job posting on LinkedIn/Glassdoor, then I submitted my application through their website. A Xilinx engineer contacted me through email saying that they've got my resume from their HR. He offered me an interview on my past work experiences listed on my resume and some hardware/software design principles. I did the interview (a 60-minute phone interview) with the engineer. It was a great discussion over the 3 unique skillsets I possess for the internship opportunity, which is about FPGA, debugging, and programming language compiler. I was offered the job, but then there was a misunderstanding about my visa since I am probably just among a handful of students who do a full-time PhD study in the US on a J1 visa. But, finally the issue was resolved, thanks to our university immigration advisors who helped advocate for me. I then gladly accepted the offer.
- Could you elaborate on your PhD research?
- Can you detail your experience with FPGAs?
Software Engineer
HR forwarded my resume to the hiring manager, who then scheduled a 30-minute interview. We discussed the team and the role. Following that, there was a technical phone interview. A week before this, I received a coding assignment. The process concluded with an on-site interview involving 8 people, focusing mainly on behavioral questions, my projects, and past experience, with two technical rounds covering C++.
- Could you implement a directory crawler in C++?
- Explain RAII in C++.
- How would you convert hexadecimal to binary in C++?
Software Developer
I had two phone interviews, one with the hiring manager and another team member. We talked about my past projects and experience, then I got some algorithm and coding questions. The second interview involved an online programming test. After about a month, they let me know the position wasn't available right now.
- Tell me about your past projects and background.
- Can you answer some algorithm questions?
- Explain Depth-First Search (DFS).
