Engineering Manager
After applying online, a recruiter reached out pretty fast, marking the beginning of a process that wrapped up in under a month, with about a week's delay on my end due to sickness. The whole thing moved quickly, involving 3 main interviews: first with the recruiter, then the hiring manager, and finally a group of people from various teams including future peers. Before the second and third interviews, I received a case study to finish within 7 days, a timeframe given to all candidates for fairness. I completed it on time and presented it, leading to an in-depth discussion covering technical, behavioral, and past experience questions. There was also a role-play with one interviewer, lasting two hours. I found it interesting and got to ask my own questions about company reactions and support in specific scenarios. The next day, I got an official email and for the final step, I had to provide 3 professional references, who were contacted the same day, and I received the offer the following day. I was really impressed by the speed, the positive vibe, and the overall atmosphere. The case study was well-designed, exploring management approaches in DevOps, balancing business, people, and technology.
- What's your strategy when team members disagree on how to do the work?
Human Resources
It was a nice interview process. I had a 45-minute video call with the hiring manager first, where we talked about my background, what drives me, and my interests. A few days later, I was sent a case study to work on, which was pretty interesting and I felt I had enough time to prepare. The second interview was in person. Three team members led the formal part, and I presented my case study and answered more questions. After that, there was an informal coffee chat with three other team members. The whole thing lasted about 1.5 hours and was really relaxed and friendly.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experience?
- Could you describe your key strengths and areas for improvement?
- What motivates you to want to join Xeneta?
Backend Developer
I had an initial interview that lasted 45 minutes. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected to move forward. The HR person asked questions that were already on my resume, plus some behavioral ones. They took notes on my answers for evaluation. I think it would be better to assess technical skills with a test task first, then behavioral and technical rounds with the team. Recruiters should stick to behavioral questions. Maybe a short 15-minute intro call before the test task? Asking for references later on is also a bit outdated. The recruiter was really nice, though.
- Have you worked with Docker?
- Do you have experience with SQL?
- What's your familiarity with git?
Data Analyst
The whole recruitment journey spanned about two months and included three interviews along with two assignments. The interviewers were awesome! They made me feel comfortable and actually enjoy the whole thing. The assignments were super interesting and gave me a good feel for what the job actually entails day-to-day. I also really learned from the feedback they shared on my assignments during the last couple of interviews. All in all, it was a great experience!
