First I got a phone call with Chanicka who scheduled me for interviews with HR and Managers. Then I was given 10 or 15 questions on basic accounting. I first spoke with HR and then with the managers.

I was contacted via Indeed by a recruiter who encouraged me to apply for this Accountant position. They mentioned it was suitable for a recent graduate with limited experience in accounts payable. Following a preliminary phone conversation, we scheduled an in-person interview. During the interview, I was given a 10-question quiz on fundamental accounting principles. The office environment seemed pleasant and relatively new. After completing the quiz, I met with both an accounting manager and an HR manager. They expressed concern about my limited accounting background and stated that this was a mid-level role, which they felt my experience did not match. The interview had a low-energy vibe, and they seemed puzzled by my application, despite initiating the contact and having my resume detailing my experience. While I performed well on the quiz, which surprised them, they remained focused on my lack of required experience. It's unclear to me why I was encouraged to apply, as it felt like a waste of time for everyone involved.

I had an interview with the CEO, but it wasn't great. The CEO rescheduled last minute to a time outside of normal work hours, which was inconvenient and made me question their professionalism. The CEO took the interview while in their car, and there were a lot of interruptions, making it seem like they weren't fully committed. Instead of asking job-related questions, the CEO mostly asked irrelevant things, which made me doubt if they knew what they were looking for. They also didn't share any salary or compensation details, which is a bummer because it's hard to know if the role is a good fit without that info. The job posting was also confidential, which felt a bit sketchy and made me wonder if they were just looking for free ideas. Overall, the experience lacked respect and transparency.

It was a pretty chill interview with Lil and Cam. They had me do a bookkeeping test to see if I could actually do the job. Cool people and a nice office.
