We were supposed to do a video interview, but we ended up talking on the phone because of technical issues. The hiring manager was nice, but the interview didn't go very far because they don't sponsor visas for this role, and I need that. I wish they had asked about visa status in the application, but I'm glad they reached out.
- Regarding your visa status, as an American, what is it?

I had a quick recruiter chat (with some tech issues on their end) that ended up going well. Then I waited over two weeks for the hiring manager to set up the next interview. She sent emails apologizing for the delay and saying I'd hear from her soon, but then suddenly sent an automated rejection email. I was surprised, so I asked for more details and feedback, especially after her recent emails, but then I was just ghosted. It felt really unreliable and unprofessional.

So this interview experience was honestly the worst. They really just end up wasting your time. You start with an initial interview, then you have to do an online assessment, and then there's a final interview. They hit you with a ton of technical and behavioral questions, only to tell you a week later that you didn't get the job. Total time sink. The first interview itself would have been fine if it was just to see if you were a good fit for the role.

The interview process took about two months and had four interviews, plus one more to give feedback on the hiring process. Communication was sparse during this time, with long silences making me think another candidate was chosen, then suddenly getting an interview invite. While the holiday season might explain some delays, the communication wasn't consistent. I had a good impression of the people I met in the interviews and felt optimistic about the role. I eventually got an offer, but some parts were unclear, leading to discussions with HR. The day before I had to accept, I found out about a requirement to commute to the Newmarket office once a week, which was never mentioned in any of the five interviews. My resume shows my address, making a two-hour commute impossible. They justified this last-minute change by saying expectations shifted and 'it is what it is because management said so,' even though it wasn't mentioned before. If I hadn't been valued by my current employer, I would have been jobless. The lack of transparency led me to decline the offer. I expected better communication from a company like XE, especially regarding job requirements. I hope they'll be more upfront with future candidates.
- Could you discuss your experience with practice-oriented questions, specifically concerning DPAs and PIAs?
