I applied online and had an HR screen within a week, followed by a hiring manager interview. I didn't feel respected. Right at the start, they said I wasn't qualified for the position and wanted to interview me for another role. They didn't introduce the new position at all, and I didn't even get a full picture of it by the end of the interview. The questions were detailed technical questions, not overly difficult, but they questioned my credibility before understanding my project design. They also warned me multiple times about lying. I had another interview for a different position, and that went fine, so I suspect it was just the hiring manager.

The interview consisted of a 30-minute presentation of my PhD research. Following the presentation, there were questions delving into the research details. I also had the opportunity to ask questions about the company and the job responsibilities. An offer was extended the very next day.

This is WuXi NextCODE in Cambridge, Boston. There was no initial phone screening. I was contacted via email to schedule a meeting, and their response was slow. Eventually, a WebEx meeting was set up. The meeting itself was fine. However, in subsequent emails, the HR person inquired about willingness to work overtime. Despite confirming it was acceptable, they sent a rather negative email implying distrust. After that, communication ceased. I'm relieved to avoid a manager who expects 60+ hour work weeks, which suggests a poor culture and management.
