It was okay. The recruiter was nice. I didn't make it past the technical phone screen, which involved more practical ML rather than theoretical.

Technical Coding Behavioral Presentation

The hiring process took 2-3 months and included interviews with 2 teammates, the team lead, a cross-interview with another team lead, the manager, and HR. After that, I waited about 3 weeks for a response. The interviews with teammates involved an easy coding test and basic computer science questions, as well as discussing ways to improve the coding task solution and background questions. The team lead asked about my background in computer vision and automotive, and my ideas for self-driving car improvement. The cross-interview focused on 'Why Woven?', 'Why Japan?', and the future of automotive, with some basic machine learning and motivation questions. The manager's interview was behavioral, covering motivation, reasons for wanting to move to Japan, and how to handle various situations. HR's interview was conversational, asking about motivation, handling stress, deadlines, and team issues. The interviews felt friendly. The main issue was the 2-3 week wait for a response, especially when I had other offers. They seem to look for engineers with strong motivation, good basic knowledge, a solid background, and a strong desire to work and live in Japan.
