& Process

After resume selection, there's a group activity. First, you pick a topic (a news item, which is a secret until you open the draw bag) and talk about what you know. Then, there are group debates on different subjects, with group sizes and members changing.

First there was an activity, where we randomly picked a topic and had to speak about it for up to 3 minutes. Then they held a group activity where we had to defend a product against a similar product from a competitor. Finally, those who passed this stage went to an individual interview with managers and if they passed that phase, there would be a week of training and lectures which was also a final selection stage.

I applied online and got emails for the positions I was interviewing for. You submit your resume and cover letters for two departments you're interested in. They might not pick you for the jobs you applied for. Then, you go to their Internship Recruitment event with everyone else who got called in. You sign in and list the departments you're interviewing with. First, there's a PowerPoint presentation about all the departments and their work, with someone from each department presenting. After that, everyone does a quick writing sample. While waiting to be interviewed, people introduce themselves. Some departments give out more forms to fill out. Staff members call people to go to their interviews for the departments that selected them. Both my interviews were really short and seemed to only focus on administrative skills, which was a bit disappointing as I expected questions about the actual work, not just making phone calls.

I reached out to the hiring managers via email to express my interest in an interview. They responded within two days and we set up a time to talk. It was a pretty standard interview, nothing out of the ordinary. It ended up getting quite personal though, starting with my skills and moving to my hobbies. We even chatted about our experiences living in Seattle. I was offered the position the same day, and I decided to accept it.
