First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at World of Beer.
Server
The interview process was pretty standard. It took a little while to get a call back from the manager to set up the actual interview, but after that, things moved quickly. Everyone hired goes through a two-week "beer school" at the International location.
- What makes you want to join WOB?

You start by walking in to fill out an application. Filling out the application in person is the way to go, the online app probably won't get you hired. I filled out the application and waited for a manager to be available, then I was interviewed right away. The interview covers basic get-to-know-you questions about my personal life, hobbies, and school. Then, they ask about my availability and how much I want to work. The interview isn't the hard part though. All employees must go through a tough 2-week "Beer School" where they learn about and taste over 540 beers, plus basic menu and bar info. This is how they filter out candidates.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with our establishment?
Cocktail Waitress
This was a typical interview where they wanted to know if I was passionate about craft beer. They asked me what my favorite craft beer was, to describe it, and why. They also asked a lot about my previous experience. They assured me that I would need to attend a lengthy beer school process before getting the job.
- What's your go-to craft beer, and could you describe its color, taste, and aroma?
- Could you tell me about your prior experience in a similar role?
Host
I applied on Indeed and the manager emailed me a few hours later to set up an interview. It was a really straightforward process. They asked me about my past work experience, why I wanted to work at WoB at that particular spot. Then they hired me right then and there.
- Tell me about your previous work history.
- What makes you want to work at WoB in this specific location?
- Which position are you looking for, as we're hiring for hosts, servers, and bartenders?
