It was an extremely long process, like 6 months, and honestly felt like they had already picked someone before the job was even posted. The hiring manager doesn't seem to have the final say, so don't get your hopes up too high even if things seem to be going well. I went through 4 months of interviews, including a really positive trip to Geneva for more interviews where I shared all my documents and even met the team. So, I was really surprised to get an email saying I wasn't selected. The weirdest part was when I called my hiring manager to thank him and try to figure out what happened, he hadn't even been told I was out of the running! It just makes me think the hiring manager has zero decision power in the end. About a month after that, HR sent a pretty rough email asking if I was still interested. I had other offers but decided to give it one last shot. They said I'd have to do a case study against the other candidate, even though they'd already told me I was out. Then it took another month for them to pick the other person, despite saying they'd speed things up. It all feels like a way to make a fake selection process look legit, so be careful! If things seem good, be even more cautious because you never know! Keep applying elsewhere. Their HR is a mess. My hiring manager was great though, and I could tell he was trying to smooth things over and give me some feedback after this 6-month ordeal, but it didn't really explain why I didn't get the job.

In the context of an internal transfer, the recruitment process is as follows: you submit your application like an external candidate, then if selected, there is a behavioral interview with HR, an interview with the line manager, and finally an interview with the team lead.

After applying online, I was contacted for a Skype interview with my potential supervisor and a colleague. We discussed standard questions like my motivations for applying and job expectations. I also asked about the delegation of authority and work breakdown within the cluster, as well as career development, but these weren't answered. A red flag was the question about handling simple admin tasks despite the senior role. Two weeks later, I had another Skype interview with HR. The overall impression was mixed: a good idea behind the selection process but a significant lack of clarity and transparency regarding the position, organizational structure, and other standard job-related queries.
