The recruiting team was nice and informative. They worked hard to find a role that was in alignment with my needs. They had a couple of options for me, however the salaries didn’t meet my needs. They kept trying though.

The recruiters were nice and responded quickly, but they give a design assignment very early on, right after the first interview. This means many candidates work hard for nothing. I spent days on this confusing assignment, then had a very tough interview with the hiring manager. Afterwards, I only got generic rejection words like 'sometimes it's the smallest details that make the difference.' I replied to thank them and ask for feedback, but never heard back. It left me with a negative impression.

The interview process at WorkGenius goes like this. First, you have a meet and greet with HR. This happens after you apply and get selected, and the recruiter will email you to confirm the interview dates and how it will be conducted. If you pass that, HR will talk to the engineering team about you. If they like what they hear, they'll send you a technical challenge to complete in 2-3 days. You send it back, and if the engineering team likes it, they'll tell HR, and HR will invite you to the next stage. That's Round 3: Team Interview. This is at least an hour long, with at least 3 team members interviewing you. They'll ask about your past work, why you did it that way, and suggest improvements. They'll also ask architecture problems, behavioral questions, and about edge cases to gauge your thinking level. Then there's Round 5: Offer. I'm waiting to hear back.

The interview process felt off. I suspect it's a modern staffing agency, though they say it's not. I applied for a position and asked if it was to work directly for them, and they said yes. But then another person mentioned I could use their software to look for jobs and 'test it out.' It felt like they tried to trick me into using their platform instead of hiring me directly. Even if the job was for them, their hiring process is too slow, and people need to pay bills.
