First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WorkForce Software.
Software Engineer
It started with a 20-minute phone screen where they asked some basic background questions and simple technical questions, like 'describe encapsulation'. Then there was a single 3-hour block of interviews, all done remotely. The first part was a technical interview involving a LeetCode Easy problem. After that, there was a behavioral interview, followed by a task to solve a bug in real code. It was a simple bug, but applicable to day-to-day work and a bit tricky, similar in difficulty to a LeetCode Medium problem. I really liked this interview process; if all Software Engineer interviews were like this, the industry would be much better.
- Scan an integer array for duplicate values and return them.
Software Engineer
I was submitted to the company by a 3rd party recruiter with a salary expectation of 120k, and I made it clear I wouldn't take less than 100k because I already had an offer for that amount. I went through the whole interview process, passed, and got an offer for 115k the same day, which I accepted. They said they were just getting the paperwork ready. Then, I was called for another interview with the director (my hiring manager's boss) who said he just wanted to meet me. But then he told me I wasn't worth that much and gave a new offer of 95k. I was so insulted! He also said I'd be paid more than senior staff, which I get, but don't offer what you don't intend to keep. I turned down a higher offer for this and they backed out, leaving me hanging. AVOID THIS COMPANY.
- How would you improve our build and deployment process?
Senior Software Engineer
It was a long interview process. First, there was a technical interview where they checked my OOP concepts and SQL knowledge. Then, there was almost a full-day test focused on Java. Finally, I had an interview with the project managers.
- A SQL question was asked.
