First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wind River.
Account Manager
It felt like a conversational interview. The process was fairly standard with HR and moving up through the sales management ladder. The interviewers want to assess fit to the Wind River culture based on Growth mindset. Not a lot of flexibility on salary.
- Can you share an instance where you displayed a growth mindset in your prior role?
Strategic Account Manager
Great chat with the Recruiter, they gave me tons of info on the job, company, and culture. I always knew what was next and when. I talked to my direct manager, his boss, and the VP of Sales. The questions were smart, and I got to ask all the questions I wanted to make sure I knew everything about the role and company.
- Can you tell me about your sales style and your initial strategy for managing accounts and driving business growth?
- How would you outline your approach to managing key accounts and expanding our business?
Sales Account Manager
I had a phone screen with their corporate recruiter first. Then, I had a one-on-one call with the sales director who is the hiring manager. The interview felt pretty straightforward and the conversations were positive. Things seemed to be going well. The hiring manager asked for a reference, specifically a President at a Wind River client that already spends a lot with them, and said he'd call them after our chat. I let the exec know to expect a call, but then nothing happened, which was a bit awkward for me and Wind River. The hiring manager also asked me to send over more questions via email, saying he enjoyed our chat and would get back to me quickly. Two weeks passed with no response from the sales director at all. This was disappointing. I felt ghosted after that. The recruiter tried to give excuses, but since the hiring manager didn't follow up on the requests he made of me (and I had replied super fast), I decided to withdraw my application. I figured if he was ignoring me during the hiring process, he probably wouldn't take my work seriously if I joined his team.
- Can you tell me about your sales methodology?
- How do you manage your sales funnel?
- What's your strategy for dealing with objections from difficult clients?
